Motorcycle Accidents

If you or a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle accident due to the driver or another vehicle, you may have grounds for a lawsuit. Lawsuits are often necessary to recover damages. Compensation for damages can include medical bills, physical rehabilitation, therapy, pain and suffering and lost wages.

Motorcycle riders are at a greater risk of serious accident injuries on the road than drivers and passengers of cars, trucks and other vehicles. Riders have only their safety gear to protect them. In a car accident, your vehicle protects from the full impact of colliding with another car, a truck or bus, walls, trees, highway dividers or other structures. Medical bills for motorcycle accident injuries can be very expensive, as they often result in serious injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2008, 103,000 motorcyclists were injured in the United States, with 5,154 deaths.

Some common motorcycle accident injuries include:

  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
  • Subdural Hematoma, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Extensive head trauma
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Internal injuries
  • Severed limbs
  • Fractured or crushed bones
  • Severe road rash (loss of exterior tissue)
  • Paralysis

These injuries often cause permanent disabilities, disfigurement, scarring and even death. If you are injured in a motorcycle accident, you will likely require surgery, therapy and extensive rehabilitation. A motorcycle accident will impact the rest of your life.

Your injuries and recovery can also result in emotional and physical pain and suffering, as well as lost wages.
